Terms of Use
Effective date: October 6, 2026
These terms apply to the Foraging ID: Plant & Mushroom app for iOS ("Foraging ID", "the app"), provided by Oleksandr Khnykin (AiTrendTool) ("we", "us"). By using the app you agree to them and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If these terms and Apple's agreement differ, these terms apply to the extent the law allows. Our Privacy Policy explains how data is handled.
Never eat, taste or use any wild plant, berry or mushroom based on this app. Many poisonous species look almost exactly like edible ones, and some can kill or cause permanent organ damage even in small amounts. An identification by the app is a suggestion from an AI model, not a confirmation. Before you eat anything you have foraged, have it checked in person by a qualified local expert. If you think someone has eaten something poisonous, contact your local emergency number or poison control centre at once; for animals, contact a veterinarian.
1. An educational tool, not an expert
- Foraging ID helps you learn about wild plants and mushrooms. Its identifications, edibility verdicts, lookalike warnings, pet-safety notes, uses and preparation notes, cultivation notes, season guide and mushroom forecast are general educational information.
- Identifications are produced automatically by an AI model (OpenAI) from a single photo. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, even when the app shows a high confidence. Confidence describes how sure the model is about the species, not whether anything is safe.
- A verdict such as "Edible" means only that the suggested species is generally described as edible in common sources. It does not mean that your specimen is that species, that it is safe for you, or that it has been prepared, stored or sourced safely. Individual allergies, contamination, age of the specimen and preparation all matter.
- "Unknown" means that the app could not establish safety. Treat it as "do not eat".
- Nothing in the app is medical, veterinary, nutritional or legal advice. The season guide shows typical seasonal windows, not live sightings. The mushroom forecast estimates growing conditions from weather data and does not promise finds.
2. Your responsibility
- You decide what you pick, touch, eat or give to an animal, and you do so at your own risk. Always cross-check with trusted field guides and a qualified local expert.
- Follow local laws and rules on foraging: protected species, nature reserves, private land, quantity limits and collecting permits. The app does not tell you whether picking is allowed in a particular place.
- Children should forage only under the supervision of an experienced adult.
3. Photos and AI processing
- Photos are sent to OpenAI only after you agree in the app, as described in the Privacy Policy. Upload only photos you are allowed to use and do not upload photos of people.
- You keep the rights to your photos. You allow us and OpenAI to process them only to produce your identification.
- If a result seems wrong or harmful, write to us at [email protected]. We review reports and adjust the app.
4. Free use and Foraging ID Pro
- Foraging ID is free to download and includes a limited number of free identifications, as shown in the app. Foraging ID Pro unlocks more, as described on the purchase screen. It is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (for example weekly or yearly) and, where shown, as a one-time purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.
- If a free trial is offered, you are charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a trial is lost when you buy a subscription.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions), or from the app under Settings → Manage subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com).
- To keep the service available for everyone, identifications may be subject to fair-use rate limits.
5. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the app: do not try to break, overload, reverse engineer or get around its limits, and do not use it to break the law. We may limit access for anyone who does.
6. Our content
The app, its texts, designs, illustrations, season data and software belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather; see the data sources link in the app. You may not copy or resell the app's content.
7. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always work, that it will be error-free, or that any identification, verdict, forecast or other information is accurate or complete. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any illness, injury, poisoning, harm to animals, damage or loss that results from eating, touching, collecting or otherwise using any plant, fungus or other organism, or from relying on the app's content instead of a qualified expert. We are also not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. For important changes we will tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim there.
